“Rec” soccer is less competitive than “Select” soccer and is available for all players at all age levels. “Select” soccer is a more competitive level of soccer that is available at the U11 age level and above, and requires players to try-out to make a team. If you would like to find out more details about “Select” soccer, please reference the “Frequently Asked Questions about “Select” Soccer document.
The SSC has teams available for all children in kindergarten and above. The “Micro” soccer program is available to all kids that are less than 6 years old as of August 1st. The micro teams play other teams within our club and all other age levels play in a league against other soccer clubs.
The age level is determined as of the players age on August 1st. For example, if a player is 9 years old as of August 1st then the child would play at the U10 age level. If a player is 7 years old as of August 1st then they would play at the U8 age level.
The soccer season consists of two sessions. The fall session begins with practices in August and games played during September and October. Teams then reconvene for a spring session beginning with practices in March and games played in April and May. For those children that wish to play soccer year round, indoor soccer is also available during the winter months.
Each teams coach is responsible for establishing the practice schedule, but most teams practice for an hour to an hour and a half two times a week.
All “Home” games are played at Armory Park in Sussex and the majority of the games are played on Saturdays, but there could be a few weeknight games depending upon how the state schedules games based upon the number of teams in each age level.
The majority of “Away” games are played within a 30 minute drive of Sussex – Pewaukee, Elm Grove, Menomonee Falls, Oconomowoc, etc.
Online Registration is from May 1st through May 31st and can be done by visiting the Registration page of our website (www.sussexsoccer.com). The cost to register for an entire season of “micro” is $80 or $120 for U7 and above along with a $50 per family volunteer fee that is refunded upon 4 hours of volunteer time.
Your registration covers uniforms, club equipment needs, state WYSA membership fees, league fees, ref fees, field use fees, field maintenance fees, club administration fees, and coaching development fees. It does not cover the additional camps and clinics that the club offers, tournament fees, or indoor soccer fees.
Yes and No. If your child is only available for 1/2 the season, the club will do everything possible to accommodate but will not hold a spot on a team if there is a player available to play an entire season. If there is an opening available in the Spring due to a player moving or deciding to not play after the Fall session, then the club will look to add a player for 1/2 of the registration fee.
During the months of June and July, the club offers Summer Kick-Arounds on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Also for one week in July, the club holds our annual Summer Camp. On Saturday mornings in January through March, the club conducts indoor skills clinics. Additional details on all of these events can be found on our website as the time for each event approaches.
