League: SECL "A" Game Schedule & Standings: http://ssl.hammerhead.net/wisconsin/stateleague/DivisionReport.asp?ID=1369 (10/23) The team was excited for a re-match with FC-Milwaukee who beat us at the Milwaukee Soccerfest tournament. The game was 4-2 at halftime, and could have been tied as we had two shots that hit the crossbar in the closing minutes of the first half. But FC played better in the second half to pull away with their 7-3 victory. Zachary Martin had 2 goals, Joe Pellechia had 2 assists, and Burke Feuerstein added one of each. Zach Storbakken controlled the middle of the field, while Mason Prodoehl applied strong pressure to make it difficult for FC to move the ball. Samantha Schmitt also broke up several scoring opportunities with her stellar defensive contributions. Despite coming up short, this was one of the best efforts of the season for the Academy. The FC coach even mentioned after the game how much our kids had improved since we played them earlier in the year. (10/16) The team lost a well-played game to the WCFC-Cobras by a score of 4-3. Burke Feuerstein had 2 goals and Zach Storbakken added one in this close game. Bryce Hoff and Cullen Etzel each made numerous saves to keep the game in reach, and Samantha Schmitt was a defensive force but the Academy could not get a goal to tie it despite dominating play in the last 5 minutes. (9/24 - 9/25) In game 1 of the North Shore Classic tournament, the U10 Academy beat Hartford 6-0. Zach Martin lead the team with 3 goals and an assist, while Joe Pellechia added a goal and an assist. Samantha Schmitt and Burke Feuerstein also added goals. Jack Corcoran patrolled the middle of the field and had two assists. Tyler Bins had 4 saves in the shutout victory. In game #2 the Academy team beat the North Shore United-White by a score of 5-2. Zach Storbakken had a hat trick (3 goals), while Jack Corcoran (1 goal, 1 assist) and Zachary Martin (1 goal, 1 assist) helped with the scoring load. Mason Prodoehl made numerous big plays on defense throughout the game. Cullen Etzel and Burke Feuerstein each made big saves to help the team to victory. In their 3rd game, the Academy team beat the Spartan Classics by a final of 8-3. The visitors from Northbrook, Illinois, fell behind Sussex early as Burke Feuerstein found Zachary Martin on a crossing pass only 10 seconds in to the game. Feuerstein had 4 goals and 2 assists to lead the team. Martin added a goal and an assist, as did Zach Storbakken. Tyler Bins knocked in the final goal mid-way through the second half. Bryce Hoff and Joe Pellechia played strong in goal for the Academy team. In their final game, the Academy team fell to the North Shore-Arsenal by a score of 3-1. The game was tied 1-1 at the half as Zach Martin scored on a corner kick, but the Arsenal was able to get 2 goals in the second half to seal the win in what was a very well played game by both teams. Bryce Hoff and Cullen Etzel made outstanding plays in goal to keep the game close. (9/18) The U10 Academy (boys) beat the United Serbian SC 7-6. Zach Storbakken tied the game with 90 seconds to go when he scored his 6th goal of the game, then Burke Feuerstein knocked in the game winner with 20 seconds to play. Joe Pellechia added 2 assists in the win, and Sam Schmitt played strong defense throughout the game.
